EFT Café – July 9th – How Not To Take Things Personally

Stuff happens to us all the time.

Accidents happen, people say unkind words or make mistakes.

Sometimes it is not enough that such difficulties occur, we feel obliged to take them personally as if the “perpetrators” were doing it deliberately to spoil our day.

Not only do we get the discomfort of the experience we can also go into an uncomfortable state of mind where:

  • We think: “They did it to me, and they did it deliberately” regardless of the truth of the matter.
  • We can go round and round in our own heads rehearsing the rights and wrongs of the situation (feeling bad about it the whole time).
  • We make assumptions about what the other person was thinking, what their motivations were (usually bad) and feel bad without really knowing what was going on.

In general taking things personally hurts.

In this month’s EFT Café  Andy Hunt will take you through a process to take the ouch of what happened and to defuse all the other unpleasant emotional baggage that comes with taking it personally.

This process won’t interfere with your own moral judgement about the rights and wrongs of the situation but it will help you take the distress out of that situation.

The EFT Café is on from 7pm to 9pm and costs £10 (tea and biscuits supplied).
