Many of us consider compassion towards others to be a great virtue.

We may go out of our way to be kind to others in their time of need.

However, many of us are not good at being compassionate towards ourselves.

Quite the contrary, we can often treat ourselves in ways that we would never dream of treating others.

Somehow everyone else but us is eligible for our compassion.

This is unfortunate because self-compassion has been shown to be hugely beneficial for our emotional well-being.

In this month’s EFT Cafe Andy Hunt will be presenting a new and improved version of his Compassionate EFT tapping approach to help us be a little kinder to ourselves – especially over such a high stress holiday.

A lot of us have trouble getting started on a task or project: writing the article, starting the exercise program or doing the ironing all need to get started started.

Once we have started it’s often easy to make progress, but getting started can be very hard.

It’s easy to avoid the taking the first step.

In this month’s EFT Cafe Andy Hunt will introduce the Stunt Double Process as a precise approach to help us take the first step of any endeavour (and the next).

EFT Cafe – Tapping Into Non-SMART Goals – 9th October 2019

Most people are familiar with the idea of Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timed (SMART) goals: pass the exam in July, paint the house next week, run the marathon in less than three hours, lose 15lb in two months, and so on.

But some goals don’t easily fit into the SMART framework: tap every day, practice meditation, take up regular exercise, finish what you start, learn the piano, be more assertive and so on. These kinds of goals may involve processes, habits or states of mind that run and develop over time.

This month’s EFT Café with a tapping process to help you achieve your non-SMART goals.

So, if you think you should tap but don’t, meditate but haven’t, or take exercise and don’t, finish what you start and don’t, and so on, this could be just for you.

EFT Cafe – Four Elements Tapping – 11th September 2019

On Wednesday 11th September the ‘Autumn Season’ of the EFT Cafe kicks off with a new process from my good friend and colleague Masha Bennett.

In standard EFT problems are deconstructed into their emotional aspects and
‘tapped out’ to defuse the emotional blocks and distress that hold them in place.

Unfortunately some problems are very hard to deconstruct and process in this way.

Masha Bennett has created ‘Four Elements Tapping’, a new technique that powerfully combines tapping and metaphor to create a change process that is particularly valuable for problems that are hard to define or just plain stuck.

Join Andy Hunt at the EFT Cafe from 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday 11th September 2019 at St Oswald’s Hospice Education Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne to experience this new process. The cost is just £10.

Note: Masha Bennett is coming to the north east to present Trauma Awareness For Holistic Therapists in November 2019. If you are an holistic therapist working with clients who have experienced trauma this training could be invaluable.

EFT Cafe – Tapping Into Skills – 12th June 2019

We can all think of skills we would like to have, or would like to be able to do better.

One way of developing skills is by using mental rehearsal to practice them in our minds before we put them into practice in the real world. Athletes and musicians are well known for using mental rehearsal techniques to improve their performance.

Just because we are not athletes or musicians doesn’t mean don’t use mental rehearsal for figuring out how to do something. If you have ever lain awake at night figuring out how best to approach an interview, presentation or doing something new, you will know what I mean.

Unfortunately many of us mentally rehearse all the ways things will feel bad or go wrong. This kind of mental rehearsal doesn’t help us get the results we want.

This is where tapping can help us take the kinks out of our mental rehearsal and improve our chances of success when we try those (new) skills in the real world.

In this months EFT Cafe on Wednesday 12th June Andy Hunt will demonstrate a simple way of using tapping to help our mental rehearsals and performance.

EFT Cafe – 8th May 2019 – Doodle Tapping

Feelings can be tricky.

Sometimes they can be both overwhelming and complicated, which can make them hard to work with using standard tapping process.

My friend and colleague Masha Bennett created ‘Doodle Tapping’ seven years ago to help her clients process difficult emotional states. She recently shared this simple process with me and I’ve since used it for myself and with clients with surprising results.

In this week’s EFT Cafe Andy Hunt will demonstrate ‘Doodle Tapping’ and how it can be used in a variety of situations (all materials will be provided).

Tapping Into The Root Cause Of Problems

When we are stuck in a problem, or stuck again in an old familiar problem, it’s hard to know what is causing it (the core issue).

If you don’t know what the cause of problem is how can you approach it with tapping?

That’s where the ‘5 Whys’ can help. This process was created in the 1950s by Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of Toyota Industries, to uncover the root cause of manufacturing problems. This simple process turns out to be surprisingly good at uncovering the root causes of personal challenges. Once you know what the root cause you can apply EFT/Tapping more effectively.

In this month’s EFT Cafe on Wednesday 10th April 2019 Andy Hunt will be demonstrating how to combine the 5 Whys with tapping to get to the parts other processes don’t reach.

EFT Cafe – 13th February – Tapping From A Safe Place

One of the great benefits of EFT is that it is a very gentle way to process unpleasant or even painful emotions.

Even so, when we face the prospect of processing uncomfortable emotions we can feel a certain amount of apprehension. The higher the apprehension or anxiety the harder it is to do the work.

In this months EFT Cafe we will explore some ways of helping ourselves, and the people we are tapping with, feel safer and more comfortable as we do our tapping work.

These perspectives on safety and how to elicit it are taken from the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) approach to working with painful emotions and childhood issues.
